Klein Presents at VTS 2004 in Hong Kong
January 3, 2004
February, 2004. Klein was asked to prepare a paper for conference delegates on the topic of ‘Integrating VTS with Port Operations’, at the 10th International Symposium on Vessel Traffic Services as organized by the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKMD) and the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
David Lloyd wrote the paper which was presented to delegates by Charles Paterson in Hong Kong on February 10, 2004. Klein is well qualified to comment on this topic as it has been supplying ports with vessel traffic software solutions since the 1980’s, and is now capable of enhancing the Management Information Systems data base aspects of any VTS system having recently developed a full set of MIS-VTS interface specifications. The integration of these two systems enables confirmation of VTS targets from the MIS list of scheduled vessels traffic as well as real time way point and ETA updates from the radar and AIS information on the VTS side.
