The system will interface with the ports existing accounting system. The ports objectives are to upgrade the existing software systems and to improve the manual business processes currently in place at the port by taking advantage of the operational efficiencies and higher quality information that can be produced by a new, more comprehensive software solution. A key benefit of a new system will be the full integration of all the ports activities into a single data base application to facilitate the management of vessel scheduling and tracking, seamless billing of port services and improved management reporting. Another key requirement is the need for the system to be modular therefore allowing for the ability to add enhancements and/or new modules in the future.
