Saab Hosts 2015 KleinPort Customer Advisory Meetings in Darwin

Saab Technologies Ltd. hosted its annual KleinPort Customer Advisory meetings in Darwin, Australia from August 18th to 21st, 2015. This year’s attendees included representatives from Darwin Port Corp., Flinders Ports Plc, Fremantle Ports Authority, Maritime Safety Queensland, Pilbara Ports Authority, PNG Ports Corp. Ltd. and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Darwin VTS CentreThe Customer Advisory meetings provide a regular opportunity for Saab Technologies management to meet with KleinPort customers and partners to exchange views and information about Saab’s product development plans and the customers’ actual experiences with their KleinPort systems.

“The KleinPort user group represents ports and authorities that hold responsibility for over 70% of port traffic in Australia,” said Peter Behrendt, Saab Technologies’ Managing Director. “We had very productive discussions including Port Collaborative Decision Making (Port CDM) concepts and the latest KleinPort developments.”

The meetings included a tour of the Port of Darwin’s VTS centre (pictured) where port staff use an integrated Saab KleinPort and Saab V-3000 VTMIS to safely manage port traffic.

The next Customer Advisory meetings are scheduled for May 24th – 27th, 2016 in Vancouver, Canada to coincide with the 2016 International Harbour Masters Association (IHMA) Congress being conducted in Vancouver May 30th – June 2nd.

Papua New Guinea Ports Upgrades to KleinPort

Klein Systems Group Ltd. has entered into an agreement with the Papua New Guinea Ports Corporation Limited (PNGPCL) to upgrade its existing Klein port and cargo management system to the latest version of KleinPort.

PNGPCL has been a Klein customer since 2005.The KleinPort application utilizes a multi-tier architecture to maintain a high standard of performance over widely distributed locations and will allow PNGPCL to use KleinPort to efficiently manage all of its fifteen ports. The system includes advanced features for vessel scheduling, resource management, billing and reporting. It also provides a comprehensive Web interface for port customers. PNGPCL will continue to use the Klein system for managing its cargo and container terminal operations in the key ports of Lae and Port Moresby.

PNG Ports Corporation Ltd. serves Papua New Guinea’s needs for the transportation of goods and people and acts as nation’s gateway to the world as the primary national port facilities provider.

Belfast Harbour Awards Tender for Port Management System to Klein Systems

Klein Systems Group announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Belfast Harbour, Northern Ireland, to install the KleinPort Port Management Information System. Belfast Harbour Commissioners selected Klein as the system supplier after an extensive public tendering process for a new port management system.

The Harbour will use KleinPort to manage and track its vessel operations and services, record cargo data, generate billing and execute data analysis and reporting.
