November, 2006. The Pacific Pilotage Authority (PPA) signed a contract in November 2006 with Klein Systems Group Ltd. (KSG) to purchase a Klein Pilot Dispatch and and Billing System. The PPA is a crown corporation of the Canadian government responsible for providing pilotage services in the waters of Canada’s west coast.
The Authority manages the services of over 100 pilots. In 2006 these pilots executed 11,673 assignments. The new system will provide the PPA with a Windows integrated dispatch and billing system operating on a single Microsoft SQL Server data base and will include a real-time web interface for public access to vessel movement data along with data interfaces to various local marine organizations. The PPA was the 1st customer of KSG starting in 1982 with the installation of a IBM System 36 based application subsequently upgraded in the kid 1990’s to an AS400 platform which is still in use as their production system. The system is scheduled for deployment in 2007.
