February, 2006. Klein Systems Group (KSG) is providing a comprehensive Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) for the Port of Amsterdam. KSG is subcontracting to affiliate company HITT Traffic of Apeldoorn, The Netherlands who are dealing directly with the port.
The port required a proven solution that could be configured to their unique requirements and the KleinPort Management Information System was chosen as the preferred application after an in depth and formal procurement process. The system functionality calls for the scheduling and management of all vessel related activities including deep-sea and inland waterway traffic. The system will use Internet technology extensively to coordinate various Port of Amsterdam service providers to ensure a smooth flow of vessel traffic in the region. Graphical components of the system assist operators in the precise positioning of vessels in locks and at the berths. Agents are able to send their vessel movement notices via the Internet and Electronic Data Interchange messaging is used extensively between the port, its customers and various government agencies. Billing information is exported to the port’s existing financial accounting system for further processing. Extensive statistical reporting is provided for all levels of management and the system is modular to facilitate future enhancements and interfaces.
